Peril At End House
Poirot and Hastings are on holiday on the South Coast. The great man has retired after The Mystery of the Blue Train, refusing to help the Home Secretary. ‘I am not a stage favourite who gives the world a dozen farewells…let the young men have a chance. Poirot has solved his last case.’ A bullet hits the terrace. Poirot adds ‘if a bullet should strike the wall by my head, I would investigate. One is human after all.’ ‘Nick’ Buckley, a beautiful young woman with ‘an impish face and big dark-blue eyes’, runs up the path. Poirot noticed the bullet had past through the brim of her hat. But who would want to kill Nick Buckley?…..
