Dead Man’s Folly

Members of the Folliat family have lived in Nasse House since 1598, but it has now been sold to a nouveau riche businessman, Sir George Stubbs.

Hercule Poirot observes ‘It is sad that the day of the Folliats is over.’

The ancient retainer replies:

‘Don’t ee never believe that, sir. There would always be Folliats at Nasse. Rare and cunning the Folliats are!

Only elderly, widowed Mrs. Folliat remains at the Lodge. Why should a school girl be murdered?…….

Dead Man’s Folly is a classic Christie country house murder, set in the grounds of Christie’s own home, Greenways, renamed in the book as Nasse House. It features the dynamic detective duo, Ariadne Oliver and Hercule Poirot, who were last together in Mrs McGinty’s Dead four years earlier.
